Resolved Question: Have you read the Discovery Channel guy's manifesto? Doesn't he speak for all liberals or just the cr@zys?
All programs on Discovery Health‐TLC must cease encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the untrue heroics behind those actions. In those programs' places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. every former pro‐birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it. every programs promoting War and the technology behind those must cease. There is no sense in advertising weapons of mass‐destruction anymore. Instead, talk about ways to disassemble civilization and concentrate the message in finding SOLUTIONS to solving global military mechanized conflict. Civilization must be exposed for the filth it is. That, and every its disgusting religious‐cultural roots and greed. Broadcast this message until the pollution in the planet is reversed and the human population goes down! http://abcnews.go.com/Site/page?id=10417970

Resolved Question: Baby dies after circumcision. When God commanded it, did he knew that would be the result?
(note: not a recent story) "A circumcision ritual practiced by some Orthodox Jews has alarmed city health officials, who say it may have led to three cases of herpes - one of them fatal - in infants. But after months of meetings with Orthodox leaders, city officials have been unable to persuade them to abandon the practice. The city's intervention has angered many Orthodox leaders, and the issue has left the city struggling to balance its mandate to protect public health with the constitutional guarantee of religious freedom. "This is a very delicate area, so to talk," said Health Commissioner Thomas R. Frieden. The practice is known as oral suction, or in Hebrew, metzitzah b'peh: after removing the foreskin of the penis, the practitioner, or mohel, sucks the blood from the wound to clean it. It became a health issue after a boy in Staten Island and twins in Brooklyn, circumcised by the same mohel in 2003 and 2004, contracted Type-1 herpes. Most adults carry the disease, which causes the common icy sore, but it can be life-threatening for infants. One of the twins died. " Was God unable or unwilling to explain what precautions should be taken? Source: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/08/26/nyregion/26circumcise.html

Open Question: Health insurance for infants?
I'm eight months pregnant and just about ready to pop. I have medicaid right now for myself and for my baby once she is born, but it only covers us for a few months. Once I go back to work, I will be making too much money to qualify for it again, but not enough to afford an actual health insurance plan for the both of us. Can I just receive a plan that covers her and stay below my parents' plan? What are my options? Please help!

Resolved Question: why does massage work for so many mental emotional physical problems?
Here are the claims Massage should be done to babies, kids and adults and much soothing would take place were this in place without need for drugs, sedatives alcohol or other stimulants. if only this would go into every would be mums repertoire of dealing with their kids. The results I am sure would be impressive. Various combinations of oils for massage can be used however I have only experience with using the oils of peanut /olive and almond and I am sure there are many others which are of real benefit too. Also very good results have been obtained using tincture of myrrh. Research in massage therapy has been ongoing for more than 120 years. Here are some reported benefits of massage: Preliminary results suggested cancer patients had less pain and anxiety after receiving therapeutic massage at the James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute in Columbus, Ohio. Women who had experienced the recent death of a child were less depressed after receiving therapeutic massage, according to preliminary results of a study at the University of South Carolina. Medical school students at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School who were massaged before an exam showed a significant decrease in anxiety and respiratory rates as well as a significant increase in white blood cells and natural killer cell activity, suggesting a benefit to the immune system Studies funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have found massage beneficial in improving weight gain in HIV-exposed infants and facilitating recovery in patients who underwent abdominal surgery. At the University of Miami School of Medicine's Touch Research Institute, researchers have found that massage is helpful in decreasing blood pressure in people with hypertension, alleviating pain in migraine sufferers and improving alertness and performance in office workers. An increasing number of research studies show massage reduces heart rate, lowers blood pressure, increases blood circulation and lymph flow, relaxes muscles, improves range of motion, and increases endorphins (enhancing medical treatment). Although therapeutic massage does not increase muscle strength, it can stimulate weak, inactive muscles and, thus, partially compensate for the lack of exercise and inactivity resulting from illness or injury. It also can hasten and guide to a more complete recovery from exercise or injury. Research has verified that: Office workers massaged regularly were more alert, performed better and were less stressed than those who weren't massaged. Massage therapy decreased the effects of anxiety, tension, depression, pain, and itching in burn patients. Abdominal surgery patients recovered more quickly after massage. Premature infants who were massaged gained more weight and fared better than those who weren't. Autistic kids showed less erratic behaviour after massage therapy. According AMTA, massage helps both physically and mentally. " The preterm babies who received massage therapy showed 47% greater weight gain and six-day shorter hospital stays than the infants who were not receiving massage. But is this study evidence of what loving touch can do spiritually, or rather what massage can do on a physiological level? Regardless, babies are not the only benefactors Helps relieve stress and aids relaxation Helps relieve muscle tension and stiffness. Resolved Question: How do Enviro-Terrorist James Lee's beliefs differ from those of your standard Democrats?
I honestly don't look any difference at every! "A manifesto posted on a Web site registered to a person named James Lee, who gave a post office box in Canada as his address, lists several demands to the Discovery Channel, saying the station "MUST broadcast to the world their commitment to keep the planet." It lists 11 demands about airing shows that would promote curbing the plant's population growth, finding solutions for global warming and dismantling "the dangerous US world economy." ad_icon clear pixel "every programs on Discovery Health-TLC must cease encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the untrue heroics behind those actions," it reads. "In those programs' places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. every former pro-birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it." Tony, I'll grant you the immigration point (#5), although if you read it he squarely blames the 'first world' for being wealthy enough to encourage such behavior - not necessarily a Conservative viewpoint. His other 10 points are 100% Leftist tripe, spewed at every public college and, increasingly, high school, daily. http://tmz.vo.llnwd.net/o28/newsdesk/tmz_documents/0901_demands.pdf

Resolved Question: How many people are aware that "failure to thrive" is only a weight term?
Were you aware of this? Do you know any others who are not aware that "failure to thrive" is a weight term? What population of the mothers in the US do you think is aware of the definition of this term? Does it frighten you to know that many mothers are not concerned about their childs failure to gain weight for extended periods of time, and even ignore their pediatricians advise on this subject when the child is brought in severely underweight, because they do not understand that lack of weight gain is "failure to thrive"? I noticed many users on here seem unfamiliar with the definition of this term. Here are some definitions: https://health.google.com/health/ref/Failure+to+thrive Failure to thrive is a description applied to kids whose current weight or rate of weight gain is significantly below that of other kids of similar age and sex. http://kidshealth.org/parent/growth/growth/failure_thrive.html Kids who fail to thrive don't receive or are unable to take in, retain, or utilize the calories needed to gain weight and grow as expected. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Failure_to_thrive In kids, it is usually defined in terms of weight, and can be evaluated either by a low weight for the child's age, or by a low rate of increase in the weight. As used by pediatricians, it covers needy physical growth of any cause and does not imply abnormal intellectual, social, or emotional development.[citation needed] The term has been used in different ways,[4] and different objective standards have been defined.[5][6] Many definitions use the 5th percentile as a cutoff Some people on here seem to think it refers to a child's tempermant, activity level, level of contentness, or reaching of milestones. It is ONLY a weight term and generally refers to not maintaining the same curve for growth, or falling below the 5th percentile on the charts. Has anyone else noticed that other users are not aware of this term? It is important for mothers of young kids to know what this term refers to, because it is very important to keep up with your infants weight gain! Knowing that "failure to thrive" is bad without knowing what that means could guide to the death of an baby, if the mom does not understand that she is being warned about not having her child gain adequate weight. Many infants die from a failure to thrive. More than die from SIDS. So a lack of knowledge of this term is extremely detrimental. There are many many reasons for failure to thrive, but every case needs to be taken seriously! I won't tell anyone how to lift their child, but if your baby has fallen below the 5th percentile or is not gaining weight for extended periods of time do SOMETHING DIFFERENTLY! Sorry, saw some very SCARY posts today. Even some babies in dire need of medical assistance who received advise on here to ignore their doctor because it went against their parenting philosophies. AI - I think it is scary when ANY babies are diagnosed FTT. It goes beyond parenting style. every parenting styles can create this, since it can happen for any reason, but it refers ONLY to weight, so a child meeting milestones, with the right head circumfrance etc. CAN have FTT. Which is the point here. Beyond however you pick to lift your kids, do be aware that if your child is not adequetly gaining weight, or is low on the charts changes DO have to be made. I didn't look one or 2 examples but MANY examples of people not knowing this term and being told weight gain was not an issue, and not to make any changes and even to ignore their child's doctor. It wasn't one thing, but many. A child can be short of course, and weight versus height matters, but you cannot assume a child is simply supposed to be at the 2nd percentile when the child's doctor is telling them to change things! It isn't a measure of bones popping out, it is a measure of weight, and generally a matter of being below 5th percentile on the charts. Of course if a doctor is not worried then that is one thing, but people actually tell worried moms to ignore the doctor on this. The medical community is aware that kids die from being underweight. It really doesn't matter what chart you use when you start falling off them. A child shouldn't be falling off any of the charts. It is a concern. Esp. when the doctor says it is! You know, the guy / girl who actually sees the child...

Resolved Question: Do you think it is wrong for insurance companies to deny people for being to fat, skinny old?
People have been denied by insurance for being to thin, old, having diabetes. Do you think this is wrong. Yes. they have been facts are down below. Why do people not want a we instead of me in healthcare? What do you think of Americas health care system? I think the insurance companies charge to much for drugs. I have seen insurance companies turn people down for cancer treatment because they ''are to young to have cervix cancer.'' I have seen hospitals dump people off the hospital bed once they can not pay the bill. One lady had Alzheimer she did not know were she was when they dumped her. Another one had a broken hip and open stitches, broken collar bone. The hospital kicked her out of the bed and put her in a cab pushed her out of it. They did not even tell her where she was going. Whats silly is the only place in America that has universal health care is guantanamo bay. The only people who do receive universal health care is the people who blew up the twin towers. When Bush passed a bill saying it was good health care for the older folks. He really gave the drugs to the insurance companies it was a bill they passed saying they can charge what ever price they want to on drugs. Bush even congratulated a 60 year old lady for working three jobs. Just to pay for her medications. She should be resting NOT WORKING! I think we should do socialist health care. It works for Europe, France they receive right in and out. I am a college 19 year old that works my butt off! I arrive from a wealthy family. I had insurance but they did not pay for my operation for my appendix. Now if I did not have allot money in the bank. I would of never been ale to go to school like I am now.I never be able to go to school when I am in hospital debt. It every started in 1971 with president Nixon was on the phone. He wnated a way to receive money. The other guy on the phone like well we can just clip back health care. So that's what the insurance companies do now. Their has been people that have been denied to receive paid for their (cancer treatment) because they had a east-infection in their passed. How well a society treats those that can not take care of themselves. Is what it says about that society. Everyone says I work for my money. Well, is it fair to make a 60 year old work three jobs to pay for medicine. One medical mess up most people can not go to college. Everyone says republicans are for those who work. Jut because people do not arrive from good families. Should they receive denied health care? We are 27 on the list of health care.We have a higher baby death rate than Somalia. Everyone says my thinking is socialistic that's right before communist. Well, it does not decide who gets health care who does not. Insurance companies already do that. the insurance company bought out our government to pass the law to have control of every drugs. One day you could receive cancer need a quarter of a million dollar operation. The insurance company could deny you for saying ''it is experimental''.Is it fair to say you should of worked for your money? Additional Details http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0386032/ Facts it is based on I saw it in the film but still.

Resolved Question: Whats a fever in a 1 yr old?
When my son was a baby his dr told me anything over 102 and he needs to be seen. hes got asthma and has had other health issues, so his dr tends to be cautious when hes got a fever. Hes 14months now and is running a fever of 101.9 after tylenal and motrin (few hrs ago). he doesnt seem dehydrated (mouth is moist and hes nursing) but hes sleepy and his eyes are red and glassy (bright). i called the triag nurse since its Sunday and she told me if he gets to be 105 then take him in, and if not then call his Dr in the morning. Growing up, and when my sisters kids were little, and even when my 5 yr old was younger I always believed 99 was a low grade fever, and at 105 its an emergency(brain damage) When my kids are sick and are 99-101.9 they are SICK, no energy, sleepy, cranky, doesnt wanna eat or drink. With my son, meds tend to make the fever worse. Yes i know they arent suppose to, but the fever goes UP a few degrees for an hr or more before stabalizing at a "low grade fever". At what temp is it a fever, and at what temp warrents a Dr and/or a hospital visit. Im every confused I havent noticed a fever until last night, then he couldnt snooze. I've been helping my sister move, so I thought he was just over sleepy so we're been relaxing for a few days. The last few days hes been refusing solids, but i thought that was a phase(feeds them to the dogs). Yesterday he was pretty cranky but I figured sleepy and teething. Last night high fever, crying in his snooze, couldnt receive comfortable. I was up every night trying to keep him glad so he could snooze. today we've been battling the fever. its close 102 right now. hes also spitting out his tylenal, which he normally doesnt do

Open Question: What causes more violence: A Tea Party Rally or Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth?
Lee experienced an "awakening" after seeing former vice president Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth." He was arrested outside the Discovery Channel headquarters on Feb. 21, 2008, during a protest. He was later sentenced to six months of supervised probation for disorderly conduct, according to MSNBC. Lee is also reportedly responsible for the website, keep the Planet Protest , which is currently down, but Business Insider posted the contents of the site. My in-laws smoke in their home and they told me that they would cease smoking in the home while we had our newborn baby over. Although they smoke indoors on a regular basis. Am I correct in being concerned that the strong, lingering odor of smoke could be detrimental to my infants' health (i.e. respiratory problems or SIDS), even if they quit smoking indoors while we are there? (Also how long would they have to quit smoking indoors prior to our arrival for it to be safe that we stay a few days there?)

Resolved Question: Can you get the MMR vaccine separately in the US?
My son just went for his wcc and they wanted to give him the MMR combination vaccine and I expressed to them that his dad and his twin had febrile seizures within 2 weeks of having the MMR combination vaccine as infants so I wanted to do the vaccinations separately one at a time a few weeks apart...well the nurse looked at me like I was crazy or had horns and left to look if they had them separately and she came back and said I was in luck the big wig vaccination person was there and told her that they can't receive the MMR vaccines separately in the US anymore. I'm sorry but to me that sounds a little crazy what about kids with health issues that may need them separately? Or what about our rights as parents to not want the combination vaccine but separate vaccinations...Has anyone else been able to receive there kids the vaccinations separately? I just need some insight...I feel that if they don't do them separately anymore thats taking some of our parental rights away from us to make our possess decisions when it comes to vaccinating our kids.

"There were 3,369 baby deaths (deaths below 1 year) registered in England and Wales in 2008, giving an baby mortality rate of 4.8 per thousand live births. In 2008, there were 3,617 stillbirths and 1,763 deaths at ages below seven days registered in England and Wales giving a total of 5,380 perinatal deaths."- http://www.statistics.gov.uk/pdfdir/ipm0909.pdf From figures found: according to Department of Health there were 193,700 for UK women 15-44 abortions in 2006, that's 18.3 per 1000 births, nearing 2%. http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Publicationsandstatistics/Publications/PublicationsStatistics/DH_075697 Over half of pregnant below 16s are aborted. That means from natural deaths we can say there were about 8,700, unnatural 193,700. I know people have reasons for abortions, but this overall figures do you feel are justifiable, moral, defence-able? This is a general moral religious question. Please keep away from legal or health issues. Ah! How sweet you think abortion happens to women only if they want it? The clearest example of this being not quite true is that over 1% of abortions arrive below Section E of the Abortion Act, where if the mom has refused every persuasion is forced to undergo abortion. The mom is isolated from every family and friends and the child- who would be born handicapped - is terminated, killed off against an intransigent mom's wishes. There is anything from £440-£1700+ made per abortion depending on age of the unborn. It's a multi-million pound business- er- service. There is no money made to any charity if a mom decides to keep a child. Is that an argument Delilah - because there is suffering in the world we should kill babies off? Where would that guide to? every tyrants have argued the same way as you're putting forward? Summer Daze calls unborn babies- parasites??????????? If this is your opinion please don't have ever be with kids, nor be left in any room with any baby nor elderly person nor handicapped. According to this nice of reckoning even a patient asking for help in a hospital could be termed p"parasitic". Did you receive educated in some special place I wonder. Dayzie - like every pro-choice advocates - ignore the fact the victim dies for another person's choice. If that is extended logically onwards to society as a whole, as some are advocating here, it means mass culling/extermination isn't seen as extreme. Goodbye to civilization and human rights, back we go 70-80 years.

Resolved Question: President Nixon denying health care?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LCyVFFHK… Why do people not want a we instead of me in healthcare?

It is the same thing again and again. One of us right wingers knocks government mandated health care, and one of you left wingers cite things such as baby mortality, life expectancy, and so on. 1. I desperately need the pages to these quotes 1. "If we try to resolve terrorism with military might and nothing else, then we will be no safer than we were before 9/11. If we truly want a legacy of peace for our kids, we need to understand that this is a war that will ultimately be won with books, not with bombs." 2. If you really want to change a culture, to empower women, improve basic hygiene and health care, and battle high rates of baby mortality, the answer is to educate girls."

Voting Question: how does massage therapy work for so may mental health issues?
Resolved Question: Why do you think most mothers choose formula over breast milk?
I was doing some research into breastfeeding and stumbled upon this: "In 1994, after years of stalling by Republican administrations that opposed it, the United States joined every other developed nation in the world as a signatory to the "WHO Code," an international agreement that, among other things, calls for an end to formula promotion and giveaways through the health-care system and includes a clause stating that "no financial or material inducements should be offered by [baby formula] manufacturers or distributors to health workers, or members of their families, nor should these be accepted." Despite the WHO Code, virtually every hospitals in the United States offering maternity services -- as well as the majority of individual obstetricians and pediatricians -- continue to provide massive free advertising from the huge pharmaceutical companies that produce and market formula in the United States. Such promotional material comes in the form of formula giveaways, patient "educational literature" produced by the formula companies and even free baby equipment such as diaper bags." The article went on to say: "American hospitals have largely shrugged off the idea that accepting free formula and big cash "donations" in return for a particular formula company's right to market directly to its patients represents an ethical problem. Around the world, thousands of hospitals have become certified by the World Health Organization as "Baby-Friendly" by agreeing to aggressively and accurately promote breast-feeding and to end the practice of allowing baby-formula companies to offer freebies to personnel or patients. In the United States, however, fewer than 20 hospitals and birthing centers have received the Baby-Friendly designation." Do you feel that the reason so many women opt to formula feed is because the formula companies have most hospitals and doctors in their pocket? http://www.salon.com/life/feature/1999/07/20/formula2 The article is a little old, but I just want some opinions on it. Another question: Did the hospital you delivered at offer to give you formula to go home with? What brand of formula did they offer? Rae's Momma: Don't be so defensive. I didn't say anything derogatory about formula feeding mommies. I was just wanting some opinions on that article.

Resolved Question: Health Inequality: How to find quintile and deciles?
how to solve quintiles and deciles specifically in health where the indicators are baby mortality and live birth? tnx :) The usual inequality that most people solve is the income. In health, there is a total number of baby mortality and live birth, which I'll use as the indicator for solving the health inequality using the Pietra Ratio(or Robin Hood Index). Included in the formula of Pietra Ratio is: PR = SUM (percentages for deciles > 10%) - (10%(number of deciles sum)) how will I solve the deciles using the values of baby mortality and live births? If it's income inequality, the indicator would be the individual income of household, etc. How will I solve the deciles for health inequality? HELP! please ..tnx

Resolved Question: Is this the end of homeopathy in Japan?
Homeopathy supporters like to use the oft repeated mantra that 'homeopathy is harmless'. There is however increasing reports of the dangers to those who use homeopathy in neglect of proper medical care: "The Japanese government is investigating numerous deaths that occurred over the past year resulting from the practice of homeopathy, which has been growing in popularity, particularly among midwives. Several lawsuits are pending. Deaths include a 2-month-old baby girl born with a vitamin K deficiency, whose mom's midwife administered a homeopathic treatment instead of the much-needed vitamin K injection, well-known to prevent hemorrhaging. The baby died from bleeding in the skull. As more cases surface, the nation's top science group, the Science Council of Japan, has weighed in, with its president, Ichiro Kanazawa, stating at a press conference on Aug. 24 that "homeopathy's therapeutic value has been scientifically and utterly disproved." Homeopathy treatments are nothing more than sugar pills, he said. Japan may soon join Switzerland and Germany, where governments have concluded that homeopathy is ineffective"" http://www.livescience.com/health/homeopathy-treatments-dangers-placebo-effects-100901.html So, do you think Japan will join Germany and Switzerland in concluding that homeopathy is ineffective at best and at worst, has the potential for hurt? Resolved Question: Why don't more women do a natural child birth?
My girlfriend is entering her third trimester and we have been doing months of research into the best delivery methods and found that going 100% natural is the best way to deliver the baby for both mom and the baby. According to the National middle for Health Statistics, which is part of the Department of Health and Human Services, over 25% of every U.S. births have been accomplished by Caesarean section, and roughly 50% of those where unnecessary. As well as Episiotomies are done about 90% of the time, and they are only necessary less than 1% of the time. Why are women subjecting their bodies to this nice of mutilation? Also, women are told encouraged to stay away from drugs throughout the coarse of the pregnancy, but once the contractions start, there aren't enough drugs we can pump into them. Research shows that within seconds of the mom receiving these drugs, the baby has them as well. These drugs have shown to cause depression of fetal breathing and decreased responsiveness in newborns. The babies are less alert and less vigorous in nursing, and these drugs have been detected in babies weeks after birth. Also, the women I've spoken to, or read about, who had the drugs and C-sections and/or other "current medical assistance" with their birth said it was the most painful event in their lives, and moms that had natural childbirths describe their experiences as "beautiful", "memorable", "incredible", or some nice of positive comment. Let's say that at the time of delivery you are 175lbs, and your baby is born at roughly 7lbs. You are 25 times the size of your baby. Any drug that is given to you is dozed for your size and body mass. That dosage is 25 times larger to your baby unborn baby while it is still inside of you! I know the dosage is much smaller once it does receive to the baby, but it is still an overdose to the child. I am not suggesting in taking away a womens right to decide, that's up to her, she is the one who has to go through this experience. I am not trying to offend anyone, I'm only asking why aren't more women getting educated on every the options, and just falling back on their doctor to pump them full of drugs and clip them open like a turkey and tug out the baby? (Sorry for the analogy). For countless centuries women did births naturally, when we did we as humans decide that nature didn't work anymore? I understand that complications happen and thank god for doctors. I'm only asking here ladies, I'm not preaching anything.

Voting Question: Does it bother men that women in areas with good health care prefer men with less testosterone?
http://online.wsj.com/article/NA_WSJ_PUB:SB10001424052748704100604575145810050665030.html "Masculinity, however, can arrive at a high price. Women often think of high-testosterone types as uncooperative, unsympathetic, philandering, aggressive and disinterested in parenting. In fact, there is evidence that they really do have more relationship problems than other men. In a tiny study led by psychologist James Roney at the University of California, Santa Barbara, 29 women were asked to look at photos of men and rate their masculinity and fondness for infants. (The men had already been tested for child-friendliness and testosterone levels.) The men who were rated as the most masculine generally had higher testosterone levels; the women also were generally accurate in assessing child-friendliness. In another study of 2,100 Air Force veterans, men with testosterone levels one standard deviation over the mean were 43% more likely to receive divorced than men with normal levels, 31% more likely to leave home because of marital problems, 38% more likely to cheat on their wives, and 13% more likely to admit that they hit or hurled things at them. In this light, manifest masculinity doesn't sound like such a good deal. At least not in a significant relationship. A lady might be attracted subconsciously to a high-testosterone man because he'll give her kids an edge health-wise. But if health comes at the expense of fidelity and good parenting, how much does masculinity really matter? The apparent answer is not so much—if you're a lady living in a country with a decent health-care system and few harmful pathogens. While a masculine dad's "good genes" may confer health advantages to kids, so do good medical attention and a clean environment. In the Face Lab study, women with the weakest masculinity preferences tended to live in some of the healthiest countries: Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Austria. Other countries in the study with low masculinity preferences are Romania, Greece and New Zealand. Women with the weakest masculinity preferences of every lived in Belgium, a country considered to have one of the best publicly funded health-care systems in Europe (alongside Denmark and the Netherlands in the health-care index). Meanwhile, women with the strongest masculinity preferences tended to hail from the countries with higher disease and mortality rates and some of the poorest scores on the health-care index: Mexico, Brazil, Bulgaria and Argentina. (The researcher included only white subjects to control the experiment, and Asian and African nations were not included in the study.)" No, not really--I never find myself attracted to macho types. Never. And I don't care if a lower testosterone man is less likely to impregnate me at certain times...I'm not trying to be the mom to 12 kids. I'll be content with two. I'm sure these antibodies will allow for that many. You mean how you guys want a man in a lady's body since you keep b*tching that women aren't keen on casual sex, require commitment, blah blah blah?

Resolved Question: moms, what do you think about this article?
"Deadly Whooping Cough, Once Wiped Out, Is Back" California is in the midst of its worst outbreak of whooping cough in a half-century. More than 2,700 cases have been reported so far this year — eight times last year's number at this point. Seven of the victims, every infants, have died. And here's what really worries pediatricians like USC's Harvey Karp: Doctors thought they wiped out whooping cough when they developed vaccines decades ago. The disease hits young kids hardest, especially ones who are not vaccinated or who have not yet built up full immunity. The prescribed vaccination regimen begins with a shot at two months and continues until kids are 5 years old. For many kids, it can take that long for complete immunity to develop — and until then, they're vulnerable. The California epidemic has raised plenty of questions about the role of vaccination and the increasing numbers of parents who decide not to vaccinate their kids. California's Department of Public Health cites three schools in the state where 80 percent of parents have signed a "personal belief exemption" to keep their kids from being vaccinated. [...] In fact, Karp estimates that 75 percent to 90 percent of whooping cough cases occur in teenagers and adults, for whom it is not deadly. Most adults may experience only a lingering cough. The danger occurs when adults and teenagers — whose immunity wanes around 12 years old — contract whooping cough and unwittingly give it to infants. There is a booster shot for adults, but it only became available in 2005. Many adults are not even aware that they should receive one every 10 years. "Doctors — especially pediatricians — aren't doing a good enough job," Karp says. "When you go into the doctor's office for your child's care, your pediatrician should be telling you that you should be getting immunized as well." http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=129198775&ps=cprs __________ if you vaccinate your kids, do you receive vaccinations yourself? I admit I'm not up to date on some of my boosters. does this article change your mind about getting your kids vaccinated if they aren't already?

Voting Question: Obama supports Planned Parenthood the most racist Organization known to all mankind?
STATEMENT BY PLANNED PARENTHOOD PRESIDENT CECILE RICHARDS ON PRESIDENT OBAMA’S 2011 BUDGET Share + Obama Administration Invests in Title X Family Planning Program “Planned Parenthood applauds President Obama for investing in health care programs that work, including the Title X family planning program and teen pregnancy prevention programs. “President Obama’s 2011 budget provides more than $327 million to the Title X family planning program, an increase of $9.86 million over the previous year. “While we welcome the increase in Title X funding, we wish to work with Congress to build on this funding, particularly as Americans continue to deal with difficult economic times. Health centers, like ours, are seeing an increase in the number of women seeking basic preventive care, while at the same time coping with stagnant funding. “Title X is a vital component of the health care safety net and one of our nation’s most effective programs in reducing unintended pregnancies and providing women’s health care to those who need it the most. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/about-us/newsroom/press-releases/statement-planned-parenthood-president-cecile-richards-president-obamas-2011-budget-31385.htm The truth behind the founder of planned parenthood Margaret Sanger. Resolved Question: whats a fever in a 1 yr old?
Whats a fever in a 1 yr old? Im every confused 4 hrs after tylenal fever is 102.9

Resolved Question: Republicans who say ''you work for your money?''?
What do you think of Americas health care system? I think the doctors are overpaid. My question is wether my contact with his brother in updating him of baby's health etc. will ultimately jeaopordize any efforts of gaining an extension and addition of baby to my order? What can happen if I let it expire, and then decide I'd like to extend.. will it be able to happen? Also, he is currently deployed so will that delay the process indefinitely?

Resolved Question: Do you think the way circumcision is practised is right?
PLEASE READ THESE DETAILS BEFORE ANSWERING. I have a few points I want to make: 1) This Q is directed at the Muslim community. 2) I realise that Jews & ~50% of Americans do it too. But that it beside the point completely. Just because someone else does/doesn't do something, doesn't make it right/wrong. 3) I know circumcision is not required in Islam... 4) ...but people who are categorised as Islamic/Muslim do in most regularly practise it nonetheless. 5) THIS Q IS NOT ABOUT THE SUPPOSED HEALTH BENEFITS. So do not answer incorporating this into your answer. Again this is beside the point I'm making. 6) Do not compare circumcising an baby to baptising a child. Circumcision is irreversible. Baptism does not alter the physiology of the human body. What I want to know is whether the Muslim community think that it is acceptable to circumcise a boy as an baby without his consent. Even if he agreed to it, in modern states a child can not legally give an approved & informed decision until he is either 16/18/21 years of age. Do you not think that circumcision should wait until the child is old enough to decide rationally for himself, at an independent age? At the end of the day, it's his body. Why should someone else decide for him whether his foreskin is removed? It's not their body.

Resolved Question: What is your opinion on this? v. Too big or too small babies?
Do you think that if a baby is healthy, glad, developmentally average and clearly not malnurished then there is no cause for concern about their weight? (If they are tiny?) Or do you think that inadequate weight gain in infants should be addressed even if there are no other signs of needy health? Why do you feel this way? Do you think it's possible for a baby to be too big or "overweight"? If you do, can you think of an age/weight ratio that you would consider too big? Do you think it's possible for a baby's development to be impeded by their size in either case? I know that's a lot of questions, it's basically a poll. Just trying to gage how people feel about this. Thanks in advance for your answers! cathrl69 - Then why are you on Y!A at every? lol Perhaps anyone who asks a question about anything on here should consult the appropriate professional, at least we would be spared dealing with unnecessarily rude people like you. It's a general question that I specifically stated was for "opinions", not statistics.

I know it's a weird situation, but I was hoping that perhaps you'd be able to put yourself in this position and tell me how you think you'd handle it. Or if you HAVE been in a similar situation, what happened? Before my daughter was born, my mom and I always had an OK relationship. We were distant, and she was never really affectionate, but I could tell she usually meant well when she thought for herself (meaning, when my stepdad wasn't involved in things). She wasn't exactly a great parent, and I always overlooked it. She's an alcoholic, and she also manipulates people to feel badly for her. I actually DID feel bad for her, because she's pathetic. She always used people. She married men who she thought could give her money and support her, The first one ran out on her and my half-sister and they can't even find him. My current step-dad is 30 years older than her, and she married him for his health insurance. They drink every the time, he got fired for stealing computers from his job, and they are both just low-lives. But after our daughter was born she started accusing me of keeping my daughter from her. I told her that she was welcome over our home any time she wanted, but I wasn't parading our daughter out when she was an baby and driving an hour regularly. I told her it was a lot of work to take a newborn that far when there was nothing there for her when we got there (pack and play, toys, etc) and I had to bring everything. Also, they smoke heavily in the home, and I told her that we wouldn't be staying very long anyway because I'm going to do my best to keep her away from cigarette smoke when I have that control... knowing that I won't always be able to prevent it. She told me that was fine and they would start smoking outside the home and have the place smoke-free by the time my daughter was born. That never happened. I called often, and there weren't answers. I left messages asking for lunch dates and to receive together. When I did receive answers, they always told me that they were playing darts and weren't home. They were at the bar. So I hardly saw them, as they never made the steer to our home either. She never even told me that she lost her job, and was sitting home most of the time for months. Well, she started sending me emails telling me that I was a horrible daughter, and asking what she ever did to cause me to act this way. She said I was purposely keeping out daughter from seeing them, and that I was avoiding them. She accused me of choosing my husbands family over my possess, because I sent her pictures that had my husbands parents in them. I explained that his parents steer 5 hours on a regular basis to arrive and visit the babies, and I wasn't going to feel bad about that since she hasn't driven ONE hour ONE time. I responded nicely as I could to conversation after conversation. This went on for months before I finally stopped talking to her. I stopped sending her pictures. After 6 months of no contact, she called again saying she was sorry and she wanted the pictures, and that she wanted to look us. So we went there and spent some time with her. It was awkward but it was fine. She agreed she was out of line and didn't know why she said everything. Then after a couple more weeks, she started again. The same things. I had sent her a picture with my husband's (then fiance) sister in it--- she also lives an hour a way but came to visit. I once again dealt with the accusations, and got more and more pissed off. Finally, when my husband asked me to marry him, i called her and asked her if she wanted to be involved in the wedding planning, and she told me that since I loved my husbands family more than hers, that they could deal with the wedding. After that I didn't talk to her again. She wasn't at our wedding. My brother and sister who were supposed to be int he wedding party, bailed three weeks before the wedding day because they told me that It's been a year in october since we've spoken. I feel that she's psychotic. She's mean, and she is manipulative, and she is detrimental to my sanity. I would never leave my daughter with her, ever, as she's an alcoholic and I don't trust her. She thought I was keeping her from her before, and now actually understands what it means to have my daughter kept from her. I felt badly that my daughter wasn't seeing her grandma, but I actually don't even feel badly anymore. What is she really missing? A drunken reprobate who would try to convince her that my husbands family is bad and doesn't like her... the same way that growing up, she told me and my brother that our dad's side of the family were bad people and we shouldn't adore them. And for months, she has been harassing my dad about me. She hasn't spoken nicely to or about him in 20 years,
